Since 2017, Matt and his wife of 23 years, Elida, 7 th grade teacher with the Fort Mill
School District, as well as his children, Clark, 21 and Rylee, 18, have made a home in
Fort Mill, South Carolina. In these seven years, Matt and family have loved living in and
being a part of this beautiful-small town and have cherished the friends and memories
that have been made. His children have grown in to strong, intelligent adults, thanks to
the foundation built by the Fort Mill School District.
Matt is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, majoring in Political Science, with
a minor in Sociology. While attending UCF, Matt served on the Student Senate and was
an active member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science honors fraternity. In 2002,
Matt graduated Magna Cum Laude with his MBA from Florida Metropolitan University.
In his professional career of 30-years, Matt has worked in the field of Industrial
Maintenance and Reliability. Starting his career as a data collection technician working
in the rugged environments of Florida, providing support to the phosphate,
waste/potable water treatment, energy production, cement, and pulp & paper industries,
the groundwork was laid for Matt’s indominable work ethic and Never Say Die attitude.
Matt has worked his way up from technician to data analyst, and now program
management.
Now a subject matter expert in the field of Industrial Maintenance and Reliability, Matt is
highly sought after around the world. Currently employed by J&J Worldwide Services as
the Reliability Centered Maintenance Program Manager, Matt supports our nation’s
Military around the globe, ensuring our readiness to defend against all enemies, foreign
and domestic.
As a Boy Scout, he actively participated in bettering his community through service
projects and laid the foundation for his commitment to service. While attending UCF,
Matt was responsible for registering thousands of college students to vote, as well
worked as a volunteer for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Operation Klan Watch as
a counter-protester during several hate group parades and rallies throughout the state
of Florida. After college, Matt returned to the Tampa Bay area where he served the
community, volunteering as an instructor with the Father’s Resource and Networking
Community (FRANC) Program, as well as served as a professional instructor for the
FRANC Program’s Nurturing Dads Program and Bootcamp for New Dads. These efforts
and success were featured in the Tampa Bay Times From Here To Paternity
(tampabay.com), as well led Matt to being the loving, supportive father of Clark and
Rylee.
As a father, Matt has worn many hats, including youth sports coach, Little League Board
Member, Cub Scout Den Leader, and member of the Parent-Teacher Organization, and
after moving to Fort Mill, Matt and his family have continued to support many of the
community service organizations.
Matt Vilardebo is a consistent presence all of the local York County events, serving as a
volunteer for many events, including the Strawberry Festival, Christmas Tree Lighting
Ceremony, Rock Hill Pride and various music festivals, including Downtown Jams. In
2022, Matt led the only local Christmas Toy Drive, exclusively benefitting the families of
Fort Mill.
Matt is unquestionably the most proud for having joined the Rotary Club of Fort Mill in
2023, and being highly active in all Rotary Club’s community service projects.
